Irish Hangover Preventer Sales up in Spite of Recession

LifeLine Hangover Defence, the Irish hangover preventer which was launched in 2003, has seen an increase in sales in Ireland and its new export markets over recent months, in spite of the ongoing economic downturn. The Dublin based company puts this down to a growing acceptance amongst workers that in the current climate no job is secure and that it is no longer acceptable to miss work because of a hangover. “Workers just cannot risk taking the odd day off as a result of over indulgence these days, as every company is keeping a close eye on its budgets and staff” says managing Director, Kevin Haig. Research conducted by LifeLine, indicated that during the height of the boom over 92% of respondents had gone to work with a hangover, while a massive 50% of respondents admitted being absent from work due to a hangover1. “These days individuals and companies simply cannot afford absenteeism – so people are turning to Lifeline to keep them functioning after an evening of over indulgence”

This is particularly relevant during the Christmas party season, and Lifeline’s Irish based suppliers (Lifeline is made in mayo and packaged in Drogheda and Dublin) have been working hard to ensure that an adequate supply is available for Irish pharmacies and supermarkets as well as overseas markets. “There has been a significant growth in overseas interest in Lifeline, with online sales and distributor enquiries coming in from the US and a number of EU countries in recent months – all of which helps the Irish economy” said Haig. Its good to hear an Irish success story!
